This Thursday, the talented Mr. Hollens has shown us yet another side of his abilities with his choral cover of Billy Joel’s tender ballad “Lullaby.” He touched upon his ability to shine in this genre with his take on the American folk song “Poor Wayfaring Stranger,” which featured the Swingle Singers. But “Lullaby” is all Hollens – no effects, no tuning, just rich harmonies, swelling dynamics, and a lot of emotion.
Both songs offer a delicious contrast to his other works, including his techno-inspired cover of Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” (featuring wife Evynne Hollens and Jake Moulton), Justin Bieber’s “Pray” (featuring fellow Sing-Off stars Courtney Jensen and Therry Thomas), Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”, Katy Perry’s “Firework” and a Rihanna mash-up of “What’s My Name/Only Girl”.
Hollens was featured on NBC’s The Sing-Off, singing lead vocals on Mister Mister’s “Kyrie” and “Live Your Life” while fronting fellow ACR clients On The Rocks (from the University of Oregon). He also sang with professional a cappella group Ball in the House (based out of Boston). And in addition to his performance chops, Hollens is incredibly talented as a recording engineer and producer, creating award-winning work with Peter Hollens Productions.
Check back to find out when you can see the video for this lush, gorgeous soon-to-be clasic, as well as for updates on the future works of Hollens and all of our other amazing artists!
