7 Days A Cappella, a co-ed group from the University of Minnesota, has released two studio albums for digital download!
“Appaluse,” which came out just this past May, is a 10-track ball of energy. It features a few departures from the normal collegiate a cappella fare, such as “Honey” (The Hush Sound) and “Autumn Leaves” (Jo Stafford). But “Applause” also appeases with familiar, high-energy hits such as “The Way I Are” (Timbaland), “Use Somebody” (Kings of Leon), and not one, but two pop-tastic mash-ups! One highlights Britney Spears and Kanye West, and the other, Lady Gaga and the Backstreet Boys. You’ll simply have to buy the album to find out what songs they’ve masterfully blended together.
Also available for digital download is the group’s 2009 studio release “Cabin Fever,” a seven-song EP that most would be glad to listen to while trapped indoors. With songs such as “8th World Wonder” (Kimberly Locke), “Feeling Good” (Michael Buble) and “Viva La Vida” (Coldplay), listeners will be smiling ear-to-ear, start-to-finish.
7 Days A Cappella was founded in 2003 and is the only co-ed a cappella group at UM. They prefer to spend their time singing upbeat a cappella which they polish and perform for their concerts, guest gigs and competitions alike (a tactic which helped them toward winning first place, best soloist and best arrangement in the Eau Claire A Cappella Competition held earlier this year).
