So far, Season 3 of The Sing-Off has been the most popular yet – doubling the number of competing groups and granting it prime-time status on NBC will do that for a show. But also, the talent so far has been consistent with the level demonstrated by groups from previous seasons (that is to say, nothing short of amazing, with stand-out performances causing the show’s passionate audience to declare early favorites). It’s the kind of unique talent that keeps audiences returning – and bringing friends – season after season.
The second half of the whopping 16-group cast will be performing for the first time tonight, including the Deltones, hailing from the University of Delaware in Newark, DE. They’re a young, energetic group that’s all about fun, and is sure to turn more than a few heads with their bold onstage presence. But if you don’t want to wait, you can hear the Deltones now on their newest album, “Pet the Panda,” available today for digital download through A Cappella Records!
“Pet the Panda” is a sleek, edgy offering unafraid of venturing from moody and modern (on tracks like “City” by Sing-Off 3 judge Sara Bareilles and “Chasing Pavements” by Adele) to more up-tempo, retro repertoire (such as “Edge of Seventeen” by Stevie Nicks and Beatles’ classic “With a Little Help from My Friends” as performed by Joe Cocker) – and everything in between. The production is crisp and clean, allowing voices to shine, and tastefully used to highlight the natural talents of this Sing-Off contendor.
Also available on iTunes is their previous album, “Dont Let Out the Black and White Cats“. This live album includes the full length version of “Feels Like Home“, their signature song on Episode 2 of The Sing-Off.
The Deltones were founded in 1991. Though they are celebrating their 20-year anniversary with a nationally-televised bang, the Deltones have enjoyed performing for audiences of all sizes from day one. In fact, the only thing that has changed over the years is the size of the group (growing from 5 original members to an average annual membership of 16).
Be sure to watch the Deltones doing what they do best alongside 7 other competing groups on this season of The Sing-Off.
