The experience of releasing an album is exciting for any a cappella group. It is especially exciting, however, when it’s the first album the group has ever released. Such is the case with “Inner Pulse,” the first studio offering put out by Harmonic Uprising of Lewis University (in Romeoville, IL). And now, you can own their stand-out hard work yourself through iTunes!
“Inner Pulse” is a four-song EP that, in a short amount of time, reflects much of what the group is about – contemporary, energetic music and a deep sense of pride in Lewis University (as demonstrated especially by their takes on Katy Perry’s “Firework” and the first-ever recording of the school’s Flyer Fight Song). These tracks were arranged by the group’s founder and leader, Brian Schmidt, recorded by Rudy Brynac and produced by the well-known and respected Ben Lieberman.
Harmonic Uprising is also a first in and of itself, having the distinction of being the first a cappella group to form at Lewis University. Founded in the fall of 2008, this co-ed group has taken many steps in its short history toward establishing itself as a Midwestern powerhouse, both in the studio and onstage, participating in landmark events such as the first Acappellooza ever held at University of Illinois at Chicago.
