Apart from “Teenage Dream,” the abbreviated offering includes four other contemporary hits, such as “Jar of Hearts” (Christina Perri) and “Speechless” (Lady Gaga). The EP also includes Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me,” with whom they have shared a stage. Each song, from the lighthearted pop to the contemplative ballad, has its own emotional core, and the Tritones convey the intent of every track through committed performances – in fact, they brought this live passion to the songs when they performed each of them during competition sets at the International Championships of Collegiate A cappella of 2010 and 2011.
The Tritones, now in their 15th year, have been a respected presence at the University of California, San Diego from the start. This is due, in part, to their open-minded approach to repertoire selection. Literally no genre is off limits, and the eclectic nature of their music-making has given them a unique gift and performance style. They have done well at the ICCAs as such, garnering multiple judges’ awards, advancing to the semifinal rounds in 2010 and ranking in the quarterfinals in 2008, 2009 and 2011, all while placed in the incredibly competitive west coast region. In addition to Taylor Swift, the Tritones have also performed with internationally recognized acts such as Imogen Heap and Far East Movement.
The Tritones are a force to be reckoned with, and “Augment” is just the latest in a long line of accomplishments. Get your copy today!
