All-male southern sensations Juxtaposition, from Virginia Tech, are closing in on their twentieth year of existence. Depending on your perspective, the group could seem young or old, but these gentlemen are dedicated to always maintaining the fun and camaraderie that make the experience of an a cappella group so appealing.
Their eighth and most recent recorded release, “Young At Eight,” is a celebration of both their vast accomplishments as a group so far, and their youthful, optimistic view of their future as a group. And now, you can own the album yourself through iTunes!
Each song was carefully selected to reflect their bold and energetic approach to making music. Tracks such as “Uprising” by Muse, “Not Over You” by Gavin DeGraw and “Right Now” by Van Halen are dripping with infectious energy, yet simultaneously demonstrative of the control and professionalism that can only come from years of experience. At 11 tracks, “Young At Eight” is easy to enjoy from start to finish, and filled with amazing moments throughout the journey – much like the history of the group releasing it.
Juxtaposition has done a great deal since its 1994 creation. They are a group truly dedicated to tenants of exploring all genres of music and bringing their show as far and wide as possible. In the past, they have done well as a recorded ensemble, making appearances on the 2007 and 2008 versions of the Best of College A cappella compilation series, and receiving multiple accolades and nominations from the Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards.
