Two months ago, the University of North Carolina Loreleis released their version of “Shake It Out” by Florence + The Machine to the masses. In addition to its stand-alone merits as a fantastic track, it also served as a preview for their upcoming album. Now, fans can purchase a “A Kick & A Wallop” in its entirety.
This album is all about fun and attitude. Tracks such as “Misery” by Maroon 5, “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” by The Beach Boys, “Hate On Me” by Jill Scott and “The Ballad of Mona Lisa” by Panic! At The Disco all showcase a group that knows how to have fun while making amazing music. The group also finds quieter ways to show their sass on tracks like “Gravity” by Sara Bareilles. In all, 13 tracks combine to give listeners a punch of adrenaline that comes only from listening to a truly exceptional album.
Since 1981, the Loreleis have been paving the way for contemporary female ensembles to come after them. They were the first to win the International Championship of Collegiate A cappella, and have done well on every stage they’ve graced ever since – even sharing the spotlight with the likes of Billy Crystal, and entertaining celebrity fans such as Donald Trump. In the studio, they have created works that have won countless awards and accolades, especially from the Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards board.
