On the other side of the Atlantic lives a wealth of a cappella talent. One group that exemplifies that statement is Out of the Blue, hailing from Oxford University, a world-renowned institution of learning. For years, this group has been a force to be reckoned with both in their native land and beyond, thanks to multiple appearances in the finals of the International Championship of Collegiate A cappella.
They have taken their talents into the recording booth before, but this most recent time created a work the group is especially proud to share. And that album, entitled “RUSH,” is now available for digital download on iTunes!
“RUSH” is the group’s tenth studio release, borne of the incarnation that appeared twice on “Britain’s Got Talent,” produced by Simon Cowell (of “American Idol” fame). There is nothing this group won’t tackle. From 1980’s pop with “Don’t You Want Me Baby” by The Human League to recent top-40 hits such as “In My Head” by Jason Derulo – and everything from “Jump (For My Love)” by the Pointer Sisters and “Mambo No. 5” by Lou Bega in between – Out of the Blue proves themselves as versatile and adventurous as they are fun. The group considers this one of their best works, which is why this is also the first opportunity fans have had to purchase their music commercially.
This all-male new-wave British invasion was the first of its kind at Oxford, and has accomplished a great deal with its tenure thus far. As previously mentioned, they have been very successful in the ICCAs, seeing the stage of Lincoln Center in New York City a total of three times, and garnering second place twice. They have also played to sold-out runs five times at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. They want nothing more than to share their music and abilities with the entire a cappella world. And with a history like theirs, they are on their way to becoming one of the community’s shining stars.
So why wait? Rush to get “RUSH” today!
