The incomparable Beelzebubs from Tufts University are no strangers to studio success. Coming off receiving multiple Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards earlier this weekend, the Bubs have put out a single – one whose proceeds benefit the admirable aims of The Bubs Foundation (see below).
The great news is that you can make a worthwhile contribution and enjoy an amazing a cappella track at the same time by downloading their take on “Imma Be Rocking That Body” on iTunes!
The song, originally performed by The Black Eyed Peas, is a top-40 hit that burned up the charts for a long while after its release. To this day, it still enjoys radio airplay. The Bubs have taken the dance pop tune and made it their own, as they are wont to do, with a surprisingly thoughtful arrangement and exhilarating vocals.
The Bubs Foundation, which benefits 100% from each track purchased, is an outreach organization created by the group that works to support underfunded music programs in Boston area schools. Using financial grants, the Foundation donates money to music programs at middle and high schools in desperate need of a fiscal boost. Several schools in the greater Boston area who contemplated cutting their music programs in the interest of saving money have been able to hold on to arts and music through assitance offered by The Bubs Foundation. In addition to money, the Foundation also runs “Be The Music,” and after-school program that pairs an a cappella group member in the area with a school looking to start a group (either during school or after hours).
The Bubs’ extensive 49-year history is rich with success. Every single one of the Bubs’ recordings has proven greatly influential in the a cappella world, especially for their production quality (thanks in large part to the production work of Ed Boyer and Bill Hare, with other influential contributors helping along the way). They entertain and impress both as stand-alone albums, as well as parts of the Bubs’ overall continuing tradition of recorded excellence. The Bubs have garnered countless awards for their recording prowess, which helped them secure a spot voicing The Warblers on Fox’s “Glee.”
And as live performers, they are equally successful – as proven their second major television appearance with their turn on NBC’s hit show “The Sing Off” showed, when they ended up taking second place in its inaugural year. They have also graced countless venues and shared stages with highly respected acts all around the world – far too many to detail in one post.
In short, the Bubs are more than a group – they are a force to be reckoned with. Help them continue to realize their dreams, and to facilitate the dreams of others, by downloading “Imma Be Rocking That Body” today!
