An Awesome Album From One Notorious Group

Founded in 1992, the University of Illinois Rip Chords are one of the more established all-female a cappella groups in the nation. As they celebrate 20 strong years of existence, they are looking back fondly on their past, while simultaneously welcoming the future. And with that in mind, the group is releasing its ninth studio album, which is now available for digital download on iTunes through A Cappella Records!

Every track on “Notorious” shows their smooth, sexy style, from Justin Timberlake’s “What Goes Around… Comes Around” to Jason Derulo’s “Ridin’ Solo“. But these ladies are also not afraid to bend the rules and dial it back on tracks like Emmy Rossum’s “Slow Me Down“. Several tracks on the album helped the group place in multiple levels of the International Championship of Collegiate A cappella. And in honor of their 20-year anniversary, keep an eye out for a surprise bonus track that pays homage to their history.

The Rip Chords have brought their eclectic musicality all over the Midwest, most notably in the ICCA, where they have placed in rounds of competition for the past three years. They also garnered awards for their outstanding vocal percussion, and have had fine showings in other collegiate a cappella competitions throughout the region. Over the years, the group has celebrated its personal and cultural diversity as much as its deeply varied musical tastes, infusing fun and passion into each song, each performance, and each album shown to the world over the past two decades.

We congratulate the Rip Chords on 20 years of excellence, and encourage you all to support their future by downloading “Notorious” today!
