The Nor’easters have taken the a cappella world by storm from their inception with stellar performances onstage, such as in the widely attended and viewed International Championship of Collegiate A cappella. They also delighted audiences this weekend during the first-ever Boston Sings A cappella Festival.
And now, fans will be able to enjoy the Nor’easters offstage as well by buying their newest album, “III,” for digital download off iTunes!
“III” is the appropriate title of the group’s third studio release, and it features award-winning arrangements and soloists from their recent competition sets. The group is all about raw emotion, and uses tracks such as Janelle Monáe’s “Cold War,” Jordin Sparks’ and Chris Brown’s “No Air” and Rihanna’s “Russian Roulette” to take listeners on visceral and musically stellar journey.
The group formed in 1997 as the premiere co-ed a cappella group at Northeastern University in Boston. They have worked to satisfy their own high standards for musical excellence from the beginning, and over the past few years, have hit new heights in competition with sets rife with professional-level arrangements and breathtaking vocals. This past year, they placed second in the ICCA Northeast semifinals, and second in the ICCA wildcard round.
